I'm allowing one myself one half of a "told you so" for the news that the BBC has dropped out of live coverage of Football League matches (see Number 6 here, and this from last month). Sky HAS taken up the games, but at a lower cost.  Discussions continue about the highlights package for free-to-air, currently running round midnight on Saturdays on BBC1.  I suspect the BBC is only in play if the deal is at least 20% lower than last time; and the Football League will press for a second showing in the daylight, a la Match of the Day on Saturday mornings.
