Supreme court

As hundreds of students contemplate the consequences of democratic-protest-that-went-to-far, Simon Cowell and a bunch of youngsters have been struggling with concepts of fair representation and decision-making on the X-Factor.  The Sun reports that, after a brainstorm at Arcadia Group HQ, under the steely glare of Coalition advisor Sir Philip Green, a fifth judge may well appear on forthcoming shows.

The X-Factor, unlike the Government, has at its disposal a weekly voluntary self-selecting referendum of online and telephone voting - but Cowell can't bear to trust the judgement of his audience until the final.  Otherwise Katie Waissel would have been back at the salon reception desk three weeks ago.  One day, UK governments will have to acknowledge the possibility of online voting, and defend a position of only using it once every five years.
