The meteoric rise of Jason Horton at the BBC continues. From Head of BBC South and East in 2022, he was advanced first to Acting Director of England, and, heading into 2023, Director of Production, BBC Local. Since August this year, he's been Interim Chief Operation Officer, BBC Nations.
Yesterday he was announced as 'leader of stakeholder engagement in the West Midlands for the BBC Group', an honour apparently bestowed by Chief Content Officer Kate Phillips. Jason's 'expanded remit' will, it is said, "complement and support the work carried out by Kay Wright (Senior Head of Content Production Midlands)". So that's alright, then.
The day is fast approaching when the BBC's apparatchiks have no-one to talk to other than other apparatchiks.
