Some odd things going on in the Agenda-free BBC Newsroom. On television, editors have decided lunchtime viewers in the London area need information drilling home. So on Tuesday, the national bit of the One O'Clock bulletin carried a package about mobile phone theft. Ten minutes later, the same package was repeated as part of the regional news.
On Wednesday, the same thing happened with a report on a woman being fined for tipping her coffee into a street drain. This was further reinforced by the item being headlined by both the national and regional presenters.
On Thursday morning, the R4 News at 07.02.30 gave the wrong inflation figures ("Figures just released show the rate of inflation rose to 4% in September, it's highest level since last January, and up from 3.8% in July and August. Experts say it leaves the Chancellor with the triple issue of high borrowing costs and greater pension and benefit rises because they're linked to September's CPI figure. "
At 07.10, Anna Foster, without a word of apology said "The latest inflation figures were announced jusat a few minutes ago; they have stayed the same for September, 3.8%".
