Planes, trains etc

The latest quarterly figures of expenses and travel by BBC managers show increasing levels of 'outreach'.

Music executive Lorna Clarke seems to have led a party of four to Los Angeles, Nashville and New York. Her hotel in Nashville cost over £300 a night for three nights.

DG Tim Davie, Company Secretary Phil Harrold and Director of News Content Richard Burgess all managed return flights to Nairobi, at over £3k each.

Global News director Jonathan Munro managed to spend £4368 on flights to and from Washington ('straight into meetings on arrival', so that's alright)

News Digital supremo Naja Nielsen spent £2464 on a hotel in downtown Austin for the SXSW conference, after a £500 stop at the Bryant Park in New York.

Chief People Officer Uzair Qadeer took a trip to Washington and New York; as did HR Director News, Irene Asare.

The Mail has got steamed up about DG Tim Davie staying in an unnamed 4-star hotel just north of Euston Road. CFO Alan Dickson (home Glasgow) also used the same hotel for 12 nights in the last quarter. Other Beeboids who might have met over breakfast over the three months: Peter Johnston (20 nights) Rhona Burns (11 nights) Dan McGolpin (5 nights) Monika Turska (2 nights) Jack Whyte (2 nights) and one night each to Sam Carrier, Nigel Lewis, Andy Ryan, and Rhodri Talfan-Davies. Should the BBC be able to do better than £133 a night ?
