Former BBC DG Mark Thompson is rummaging around his old contacts to restore some sheen to CNN. He's commissioned a US version of Have I Got News For You, in an attempt to 'win the weekends'. 

HIGNiFY started on BBC2 in 1990, under the Yentob Controllership. At the time Mark Thompson was moving from editing the Nine O'Clock News to Panorama. 

CNN and BBC Studios have worked together on a documentary series Secrets & Spies: A Nuclear Game, due for broadcast in June, following their collaboration on Space Shuttle Columbia: The Final Flight, which transmitted on CNN in April. and BBC2 in February.  The BBC and CNN have co-commissioned the four-part "Breaking Bird: The Rise and Fall of Twitter", working title, from Candle Media and Bitachon365.
