BBC News CEO Deborah Turness says the latest staff survey is 'good news' for her division, with 'overall engagement score up 5 points to 60%, compared with 2023.
She doesn't shy away from the poor results. Only 42% of those responding (52% of News staff) have confidence in the future direction and strategy of BBC News. Only 33% believe the BBC’s pay principles are applied fairly and transparently in News, 11% lower than the figure across the BBC.
And just 57%, down from 2023, say their workload is achievable in normal working hours.
- Within the News Content division, planning your news coverage and running reporters and correspondents, only 18% believed pay principles were applied fairly and transparently.
