Looking forward to decent analysis of Boris Johnson's latest misjudgement of political realities. If he really was looking to return by acclaim, why cut a holiday short, and be snapped grim-faced ringing round for support ? How long did it take him to realise that there was nothing for Rishi in a deal, sitting on 150 declared supporters ? Did he and Rees-Mogg really contemplate relying on the run-off of 6,000 Tory members (and a Tortoise or two) - the process which so astutely selected Liz Truss last time ?
At Oxford, Johnson failed in his first bid to be Union President. In his second, successful bid, he had Michael Gove on his team.
