Club night

Lord Hall has presumably now handed over the Pager of Outrage to Tim Davie, signing off with an interview in The Telegraph.

Tony has helpfully been readily available for comment in the handover period. Tim, I hope, will set the bar higher; he needs a top team singing (or not) from the same hymn sheet, and ready to comment confidently to the press when appropriate, reducing the expectation for a Director General quote on every new Outrage. The DG should be a court of last resort.

Let's hope he doesn't forget his showbiz routes. At Selwyn College Cambridge, he found time away from his diligent study of English Literature, to co-promote an evening called 'Bliss' at an upstairs venue named "Route 66", in the shadow of the Corn Exchange.

Perhaps Tim could unveil his new Executive in the manner of Strictly Come Dancing, one at a time, spread round Radio1, Radio 2, Breakfast etc. Then again....
