The Times is tipping Melanie Dawes as the next CEO of Ofcom; The Guardian said she was the first choice of the selection panel back in November, but then came the election, and The Times is worried that No 10 might not agree. Presumably the Prime Minister has to sign off the appointment after he gets back from Basil's Bar on Mustique.
Ms Dawes is currently permanent secretary at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. She went to Malvern Girls College, then graduated in PPE from New College, Oxford, followed by an economics MSc at Birkbeck.
