Personal policy

Ever-gracious R4 Today presenter Nick Robinson tells the Sunday Times that, once John Humphrys departs in ten days' time, he won't be top-dog, because all four remaining regulars are equal.

But it's clear in the rest of the interview that he has editor status, with a crusade to explain the mechanics of political bookings on the show. “If you’re ranting about why the other point of view has been forgotten, I want to be able say, ‘It will be on in an hour’ or the reason you will not be hearing a minister defend this is because they chose not to put up a candidate. Today hasn’t taken a collective decision on this, it’s my personal policy.”
