Telegraph radio critic Charlotte Runcie has written a short paean of praise on Radio 3 Controller Alan Davey, coming up to five years in the job.
She discovers that Al has a PhD dissertation 'on ice' on the topic of Roman Masculinity. Indeed. Al had completed four chapters under tutelage at Birkbeck College, when he was elevated from the the ranks of the DCMS, then under James Purnell, to lead the Arts Council of England.
Perhaps Al could updated his work with reflections on the BBC; all four commissioners at Radio 3 are male.
