Some factoids from the BBC Annual Report 2018/19.
BBC median earnings rose by 5% by comparison with the previous year, up to £44k.
The BBC News channel carried the most promotional trailers: just over 259 hours in a year - that's close to 11 full days. Radio 5Live came second, with 207 hours (8.6 days); third was Radio 2 (6.9 days-worth) and fourth Radio Cymru (6.8). BBC1 was in 5th place - 6.6 days.
85% of the promotional trailers on the BBC News channel were for the channel. Just over 50% of the trails on BBC1 were for BBC1. One presumes the endless trails for BBC Sounds will be counted next year.
Buzzwords: environment (44 times) original 45, distinctive 48, diversity 62, creative 112, value 285.
2018/19 brought 86 formal grievances about harassment (5 sexual, 81 bullying) plus 8 more dealt with in an informal process. That's up from 51 formal cases the previous year (5 sexual, 46 bullying). The footnote hints that part of the reason for the rise was the inclusion of non-UK cases. Investigations took, on average, a month longer in 2018/19, at 108 days.
The number of senior managers (below board level) paid more than £200k has gone up from 24 to 35.
