Like a prosecco cork bobbing in an ocean of plastic micro-particles, Peter Horrocks has re-surfaced into employment. The former BBC World Service boss was thrown overboard by the Open University in April last year.
Now he's been picked up by the good ship SEMLEP, the particularly-unattractive acronym for the the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership. Apparently he's absolutely the right person to lead economic vision for this part of the world. It was, many would argue, his economic vision for the OU that lead to mutiny last year.
It's a two-day a month, three-year contract. Headhunters The MacLean Partnership may have received up to £20k for their efforts.
