The latest BBC television warhorses offered for tender, under the James Purnell doctrine of Compete and Compare, are Mastermind, Celebrity Mastermind, Later With Jools Holland and Hootenanny.
The tender documents will come in September; then we'll know if the shows' presenters are under discussion. By then, John Humphrys will be 75, and Jools Holland, 60. Slightly above the BBC's current priority of 16-34 year-olds.
