Alignment

The Times has its own Freedom of Information story about BBC salaries, which confirms that the roof of top grades within Auntie's pay structure are meaningless.

Latest figures show that 1,532 out of 17,561 employees are paid more than their stated salary bands. At Grade 10, 424 of 1,375 staff are paid above the ceiling of £70,000 in London and £66,000 outside. At Grade 11, 358 out of 645 (that's 55%) are paid above the notional roof - £78,566 in London, £74,615 outside.

It's unlikely that the new Valerie Hughes D'Aeth Career Path Framework will sort this out. News teams in particular are being grumpy about where their roles have been shifted aligned in this brave, looser-but-apparently-fairer, new world, and complaints are being sent to the 'job family owner', Adrian Van Klaveren, current salary £194,150.
