Today's essential reading - the almost-full manual for TV licence enforcement officers employed by Capita, released, with some redactions, in response to a Freedom of Information enquiry.
From its 124 pages, you will learn that the officers (referred to as Visiting Officers throughout, but 'enforcement officers' in the paperwork) have a strict dress code (No facial jewellery, except earrings); must carry 22 items with them on each visit (including black pens, black bags, a watch and a torch); and, if visiting any area in Northern Ireland, must call a police number first.
Amongst items redacted because they are issues of law enforcement are five pieces of guidance to be used when dealing with people who say they don't need a licence because they're only watching online or through internet providers.
