More detailed plans for Phase 2 of MediaCity have been lodged with Salford, covering 10 plots which were just blobs when outline planning permission was granted in 2006.
Simple blocks and towers-a-go-go, a churl might say, but a good range of different architects are involved - Sheppard Robson, AHR, Jeffrey Bell, Gillespies, Chapman Taylor, Hodder Partners and 5Plus.
Perhaps one of the most interesting is plans for what looks like an old-fashioned covered market.
On a shorter timetable is a plan to turn a building known as The Bund, at the end of Erie Basin, not far from Anchorage Station, into a branch of The Alchemist, an all-day restaurant and cocktail bar. This will mark a return to Salford for the entrepreneurs who first brought a diner to the area called Starvin Marvin's. It was firebombed in 1997.
