Most of those who watched thought it was better; but there weren't as many of them. The second episode of the Evans/LeBlanc Top Gear attracted just 2.81m viewers on average over its hour, according to the overnight ratings - a 14.3% share, compared with 4.4m and a 23% share for the series opener.
And, while the share may still be respectable in general for BBC2, it's not for Top Gear, and the show will need some minor miracle in catch-up terms to get close to the 8.15 million currently claimed for episode 1, through repeats, iPlayer etc.
