Radio genius

The news that BBC Radio London is losing Danny Baker from its afternoon schedule - and that Paul Ross will be left to fend at Breakfast without the support of Gabby Roslin - is clearly about money, and more specifically, talent wages. Someone cheaper will emerge.

The problem for the station is audience trends are not good;  from September 2010 to September 2012, the station has lost 186,000 listeners - even with Danny and Gabby in place. Last quarter it returned 374,000 weekly listeners. LBC 97.3 stood at 927,000, and its no-frills medium-wave news wheel, LBC News 1152, at 439,000 - both on an upward trend.

Might be worth tuning in today at 3pm....

  1. How right you were. It was most enjoyably distracting.
