Some stats on the BBC's MediaCityUK recruitment have emerged, after a Freedom of Information request. Over 66,000 people registered online that they were interested in a BBC job at Salford Quays, and they were whittled down to 39,000 or so by an online assessment. They became part of the "talent pool" - and by December this year, 238 from the pool had made it onto the BBC's books - one in 163.
Overall, 680 vacancies have been filled - and by my broad estimates, 410 come from addresses north of a horizontal line through Watford, and 210 are uprooting from below that line for a life in Salford Quays.
For all the investment by the NWDA and Salford Council, 233 people with postcodes in Manchester or Greater Manchester are now employed by the BBC who weren't before...
