On a journey

My tweeted tip of Sky News to win Newsrooms Got Talent was off the mark.  London Tonight took the top prize, singing Cell Block Tango from the musical Chicago, led by Faye Barker and Will Gowing.

ITV deployed the Julie Etchingham Exocet in a medley of Singing in the Rain/It's Raining Men, but the verdict  of judges Arlene Phillips, Anton Du Beke and Christopher Biggins was that it was all a bit serious. Sky News closed the show with a Girls Aloud number, featuring one of our readers on what Arlene described as "sexy trumpet" - the performance was greeted with a "phwoar" from voice-over king Peter Dickson.

Channel 4, led by axeman Krishnan Guru-Murthy, did Build Me Up Buttercup;  Daybreak offered the Guns and Roses classic "Sweet Child of Mine".  Al Jazeera essayed Somebody To Love by Queen. The night's turkey was apparently NBC doing Beyonce to a backing track.

I'm not sure there was a BBC team - Craig Oliver's departure has clearly blown a hole in the TVC talent balloon.
