Is he eating properly ?

In the modern world of connected social media, BBC staff ought by now to know more about the eating habits of their chairman, Lord Patten.  But sightings of him at table are rare to non-existent. If there are contributors out there who've ascertained his favoured eateries, please get in touch.

Here is some spoor from his previous existence.

The Tai Cheung Bakery, Central Hong Kong: "This shop was made famous by the patronage of Chris Patten (the last British governor of HK) - apparently he loved the egg tarts here".

The Shek-O Chinese and Thai Restauarant, Shek O Beach, Hong Kong:  "a famous Thai restaurant still featuring a photo of Chris (now Lord) Patten dining there when he was the last British governor of the then dependent territory. My, he looks young in it".

Comme Chez Soi, Brussels: "I also love brasserie cooking, and Brussels has some great brasseries, like Comme chez Soi, where they serve absolutely perfect, simple, unpretentious food". Lord Patten in The Independent 2009.

The Grand Sichuan, New York: "I like really good Chinese food, and the best Chinese restaurants are in Hong Kong, with one or two also in New York – there's a very good one that does Sichuanese cuisine on 46th Street". The Independent 2009.

  • 2100 Thursday update: He's been seen in Chez Bruce on Wandsworth Common, but our spotter is light on when...  Currently, Bruce Poole's evening menu runs at £45.
  • 27/10 Update: The Ubiquitous Chip is his Glasgow favourite.
