The ugly side of compliance

There's slightly updated guidance for BBC staff using Twitter, which seems to be written by Chris Hamilton, Social Media Editor.  Largely, he speaks in plain English.

However here's a sentence that grates. "Official accounts need to be complied by a senior editor/producer in your department". I'm pretty sure the verb "to comply" should only be used intransitively. You can't "comply" anything. You might comply with something.   It's awful to imagine a department of people "complying" things.
