As we get used to Operation Weeting and its new friend Operation Elveden, some basic questions answered.
Operation Weeting: launched by Scotland Yard in January 2011, after receiving “significant new information” from News International. Its remit is to investigate those who may have conspired to intercept communications, contrary to section 1(1) Criminal Law Act 1977.
Operation Elveden: revealed as a subset of Weeting in July 2011; looking at allegations of corruption contrary to Section 1 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1906.
Elveden is a Suffolk village, near Thetford which is just over the county border in Norfolk, and Weeting is six miles away by road, in Norfolk, just over the county border from Brandon in Suffolk. In the past both have provided teams in the Breckland and District Sunday Football League. If you're looking for driving lessons, Tracey Satchell serves both towns.
Scotland Yard selects names for its operations from a UK wide list of names that are apparently deemed "neutral". Andy Hayman was Chief Constable of Norfolk from 2002 to 2005.

Weeting Heath is also the best place in Britain to see Stone Curlews during the summer. You can just make them out through the heat haze...
