Collar Feltz

The normally-unerring eye for talent that has blessed Richard Desmond may have suffered a small mote. There are rumours this week of conversations between Channel 5 executives and the hardest-working-woman-in-showbiz, Vanessa Feltz, where the first line goes "People just don't want to watch you on tv".  The second part is not recorded.

The Daily Mirror reported in March that the programme ("The dirt always comes out on the Vanessa Show, with Carpet Right") was facing the axe, without really noticing that it had been moved from a morning slot to the afternoon.  The Guardian reviewed the afternoon effort in April, noting that Vanessa "co-hosts informal sofa banter with her fiance, Ben, who looks like he's won a competition."

Looks like a chance for Richard to give another outing or two to the key Randolph Scott oeuvre, Santa Fe, which at least secured an audience of 27,000 when the Royal Wedding was on...
