So David Cameron (Brasenose, Oxford) and Jeremy Hunt (Magdalen, Oxford) have lighted upon Lord Patten (Balliol, and now Chancellor of the University of Oxford) as the next BBC Trust Chairman to handle the maverick Director General, Mark Thompson (Merton, Oxford).   The headhunter was Cameron-chum Dom Loehnis of Egon Zehnder (University College, Oxford).

Did Richard Lambert (Balliol, Oxford) stand a chance ? Maybe Chancellor of the University of Warwick is a step too far north.

Lord Patten will serve with Trustees Diane Coyle (Brasenose), Anthony Fry (Magdalen), Elan Closs Stephens (Somerville) and some other people.
