Former BBC DG Mark Thompson, now CEO of CNN, has undercut BBC.com with his latest subscription package. "All Access" costs $6.99 a month, or $69.99 a year - and there's an introductory offer of $41.99 for the first year. All Access adds live broadcasts, some new shows and the CNN show library, to the unlimited article access included in the "Basic" subscription, which stays at $3.99 a month.
The BBC's deal, for unlimited access to bbc.com, plus live streaming and podcasts, is available only to US residents, at $8.99 a month, but with a year coming in at $49.99 per year.
A question for Thommo - can he make this work before Warner Bros/Discovery sell CNN to someone else less favourably inclined to the Big Thinking Englishman ?
