Another feather in the cap for Shrewsbury High School, with the confirmation of alumna Kate Phillips as Director of Content at the BBC. Shrewsbury also supplied the very first female employee of the BBC, in the form of Isobel Shields, Lord Reith's secretary. 

She was known for wearing a monocle; for being tough and forthright when required; and as a person whose “quiet advice influenced the mighty Reith on many occasions.”
