Kate minds the shop

BBC DG Tim Davie has moved quite swiftly to announce Kate Phillips as interim Chief Content Officer behind Charlotte Moore; maybe Tim took notice that Charlotte was job-hunting when Disney tapped her up before Christmas.

Kate (Shrewsbury High School and BA Politics, Bristol University) started in television as a runner on The Big Breakfast; tasks included cleaning a presenter’s loo each morning.  At school she'd created a 6th form entertainment entitled "A Day In The Life Of TV". Since then she's made her reputation with formats and shiny floor shows - she overlapped with Tim Davie at Worldwide, selling Strictly around the globe. On the downside, she's recommissioned Mrs Brown's Boys more than once, and brought us too much Michael McIntyre; and she's been involved in telling off Gregg Wallace, to only moderate effect at the time. Her current mantra is "3G viewing", encouraging her teams to look for shows that might grandparents, parents and children watching together...
