Ducks

Moving fast (Jenas) or slow (Edwards), the BBC still can't get their ducks in a row. The fast bit of Jenas seems to have been the 'investigation' of a One Show staff complaint. The slow bit is that by yesterday afternoon, they were wrong-footed when The Sun got the story, and new Sports boss Alex Kay-Jelski had to text his team  “I wanted to let you know that Jermaine Jenas is no longer working for the BBC.”

There were two bits of his contract to untangle - one, as a Sports pundit, for which he earned £190k+ last year, and two, as one of the rotating team presenting The One Show, a freelance gig with BBC Studios, and therefore not published.

His combo-contract was still a contract, not a staff job, so, unlike the Huw Edwards' case, there was no 'internal grievance' and 'disciplinary hearing' to go through. It's conjecture how much detail has been shared with Jenas' agent MC Saatchi Merlin of Golden Square, but they've dropped him, as have TalkSport.
