Finding a solution

With the end of the financial year on us, The Times has noted that Huw Edwards is still on the payroll, and likely to be announced topping the News pay league table when the BBC Annual Report comes out in mid-July.

In reviewing the difficulties of an elegant conclusion to this matter, the paper notes "One unknown factor is the impact of Samir Shah, the newly appointed BBC chairman, on the situation. As a highly regarded former political programme maker, he may be able to help find a resolution to the situation."

Methinks Samir will steer clear. His indie production company, Juniper, took over production of the Andrew Neil vehicle, This Week in September 2010.  The show started in 2003, as a BBC in-house production, under Vicky Flind and Jamie Donald.  Natasha Shallice and Jamie Donald were the team through to June 2005, when Vicky returned. Through 2006, it was Vicky and Jessica Atkinson, minded by Jamie Donald. In May 2008, Jamie's position as supervising editor was taken by one Robbie Gibb, but Vicky still ran the show.  And she was transferred to Juniper in 2010.

Vicky is Mrs Huw Edwards.
