New Controller Sam Jackson has started moving the furniture at Radio 3, with some old stagers shoved later in the day, and more airtime for some presenters - usually a way of saving money.
Breakfast with Petroc Trelawny is extended by 30 minutes, to 0930 (presumably to prevent audience drift to Lorraine Kelly). Georgia Mann gets the new longest shift, with Essential Classics running for three-and-half-hours. Then its three hours of Classical Live (Live recordings) all from Salford. Composer of The Week moves to 4pm.
Shuffling in the evenings leads to a Radio 3 commission for indie Folded Wing, who will provide an hour of jazz from 1130 to 0030, with main presenter Soweto Kinch.
On Saturdays, Jackson, perhaps surprisingly, goes nap on Tom Service, who gets 0900-1200 at the expense of Record Review, which moves to the afternoon, leaving no time for enthusiasts to get to the record shop and buy some new CDs.
