Paul Royall, currently owner of the BBC Apply-for-your-own-job process at the News Channel, has picked his latest raw talent.
Annita McVeigh, Ben Brown and Geeta Guru-Murthy have been announced as "Chief Presenters". Originally there were to be five such UK-based roles, which went to Matthew Amroliwala, Christian Fraser, Yalda Hakim, Lucy Hockings and Maryam Moshiri. Yalda Hakim decided Sky News was a better option, but it seems, even in these hard times, Paul can now afford seven - a 40% increase.
What we don't know - did Ben Brown apply having failed first time round ? Two of the Limbo Five have landed roles this time - Annita McVeigh and Geeta Guru-Murthy. Did they apply again and 'do better' ? Did the rest of the Limbo Five - Martine Croxall, Karin Giannone, and Kasia Madera - reserve their position ?
Plaintively, the BBC news release notes "These appointments were made in accordance with the BBC’s HR procedures." Surely, that's a given ?
