Around the turn of the century, the BBC recognised that it had too many job titles, making it impossible to understand roles and levels unless you were an insider. But, even then, the title "Director" was usually reserved for someone who headed a division, and thus had a seat on the executive.
Now many of the 'Directors' are 'Chiefs', and below them, 'Directors' are breaking out everywhere. Thus the Chief Product Officer is recruiting a Director, Product and Design. I'm sure Storm Fagan, CPO, is clear what the DPD will do, but she doesn't have anyone in recruitment who can explain it. Here's the gobbledegook....
They will be responsible for accelerating our transition to a product-led organisation, by creating organisational conditions and business capabilities for our product management and design community that will enable us to discover, innovate and bring to market best in class user centred digital experiences that unlock new value for our audiences, deliver business growth and create transformational digital change at the BBC.
