I had a little Twitter tangle with Laura Ellis, Head of Technology Forecasting, BBC Research & Development back in May. Unfortunately, she's now closed her account, so the thing doesn't make much sense.
She has long experience of the BBC English Regions, from at least 1994 to 2003. She left managing the South East after a tangle with presenter Laurie Mayer, who had complained of a 'culture of intimidation'.
Part of her final twitter conversation earlier this week survives, talking about staff in local radio being grateful for redundancy packages.
The NUJ was not impressed.
We should point out that Laura is not a BBC manager in Local. And because she's not in news or journalism, she can pretty much have an opinion on any controversial matter as she sees fit. Her colleagues working in front line news can't.
