More revelations about the way RTE was run have come from new boss Kevin Bakhurst in his first appearance in front of the Oireachtas media committee yesterday.
He's promised to investigate a €240,000 three year contract to provide 16 photos a week for RTE soap opera Fair City; he says he's valuing RTEs campus at Montrose, Donnybrook, Dublin with a view to moves and disposals; he's says he's benchmarking management salaries, and was embarrassed to discover a 10% pay cut had recently been reversed; he's going to review car allowances that go to 61 executives, whether they can drive or not.
He also promised that a recently-discovered RTE membership of London's Soho House 'for management meetings' was not part of his future financial plans.
