Pettogolezzi

New BBC non-exec Marinella Soldi comes with some trailing stories of her own. Before arriving at the top Italian public broadcaster RAI, she seems to have been a small angel investor in a start-up called MySecretCase, billed as "Sexy Shop Online".  It's slightly more romantic in Italian: Scopri il Sexy Shop Online #1 in Italia. MySecretCase, il paradiso del piacere per coppie, donne e uomini. Pacco anonimo e Spedizione gratuita.

Meanwhile she's also long-grassed, in a way the BBC would be proud of, a controversial documentary series on the Mafia, made by long-time anti-Mafia campaigner, Robert Saviano. It was scheduled for transmission in November; four episodes had already by made when RAI pulled it from the schedules at the end of July. Saviano is currently awaiting a defamation trial for calling Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini "bastards"; a few days before the cancellation, he called Meloni's deputy "the minister of the underworld"'.

Ms Soldi's decision:   "With all due respect to the institutions, I would like to call for further internal reflection [on the cancellation] in order to find a management solution in a reasonable timeframe, in the interest of viewers and the company, bearing in mind, among other things, that this is a programme that has already been recorded"
