Casting

There's clearly a little light jostling going on, as self-effacing BBC presenters seek a place in history in the tv coverage of the next General Election. There was already a problem with Huw Edwards still in play; the BBC has too many former Political Editors hanging around, in Nick Robinson and Laura Kuenssberg.

But it also has to invest in young Chris Mason, the current post-holder. And secure a good position for Professor John Curtice. My answer, if anyone cares to ask, would be to give the overnight hosting to Sophie Raworth (we can all probably got to bed early with the exit poll, unless we really care about local results), with Chris and the Prof at her elbow. Rita Chakrabarti should stick with the graphics stuff; and Laura should have the armchair conversation corner with senior politicians.

Nick Eardley with Labour, Alex Forsyth with the Conservatives.

Clive Myrie can do the next day. You know it makes sense.
