I've been somehow anaesthetised to the vapid presenter 'question' brought to general use by Huw Edwards - "Give us a sense....."
Justin Webb scored at least three on the Today programme on Radio 4 this morning, and I barely twitched. But my ear is beginning to throb and pulse at an emerging Webbism. It happens regularly in what we used to call 'discos'; a live interview with two people, of varying differences of opinion. Roundabout question 3, Justin's apparently lights upon a theme "...and, yes, that's the point, isn't it, that (take in short precis of guest's previous answer.) The 'isn't it' is the only driver of a question. Does it demonstrate an over-arching presenter understanding of the key issue - or is it a lazy formulation that keeps the meter moving ?
