The future of the BBC studio complex at Maida Vale. At the end of June we had a single source - the Mail - reporting that a £10.5m deal to sell to composer Hans Zimmer's production company was imminent.
Today, Sky News reports that a syndicate including film producer Michael Vaughn, Sir Len Blavatnik, the billionaire investor in Warner Music Group, and Pears Property, a family owned finance and property company, has tabled a bid of £16m.
Mr Vaughn came to fame as producer of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, directed by Guy Ritchie. Sir Len, born in Ukraine, runs Access Industries; one of his employees is the former BBC executive Danny Cohen. Pears Property CEO Mark Pears lives in Totteridge, and is said to be worth £2.1bn.
