Minder

BBC Studios are looking for a new custodian for Desert Island Discs, In Our Time and The Life Scientific - they've advertised for a Director of Audio, BBC Productions, after last month's final split up deal.

And they're looking for someone with both BBC and commercial radio experience - a rare thing, probably only previously available in Bob Shennan, who's now departed, but who nearly launched some radio output for Channel 4.

Ying: The ideal candidate will have a proven ability of developing innovative content, be open to new ideas and be capable of motivating colleagues to take creative risks, as well as the knowledge of BBC Radio commissioning and services and an understanding of BBC Speech audio requirements alongside those of other potential clients.

Yang: You should have experience of leading Audio content strategies and ownership of an Audio business P&L, a proven financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, control costs and maximise value across all expenditure, as well as significant knowledge of Audio trends, changing audience needs and the evolving media landscape.
