The BBC feedback programme Newswatch devoted the first five minutes (of a 12 minute show) to complaints about coverage of l'affaire Schofield. Astonishingly, no BBC manager was available to engage with the topic. The programme was given a statement, which doesn't seem to have been across the desk of a sub-editor.......
"Phillip Schofield is a prominent public figure and there have been high levels of interest in the story from our audience. This story has raised important issues of public interest, and we have followed developments in the story throughout the week - this included an interview with Phillip Schofield by Amol Rajan, which scrutinised his actions, and reflected on the level and nature of media attention"
