The cut between the 10pm news and Newsnight happened just as weather forecaster Louise Lear said "You don't care about Thursday, do you ?".
Today, the channel carried breaking news of the arrest of Nicola Sturgeon's husband at 0941, and decided it was the top story around the world at 1000am, covered in a phone interview with a BBC reporter in Glasgow.
