Culture Minister Julia Lopez had the dubious pleasure of rising to agree with no less than 38 angry MPs on the issue of BBC local radio cuts this week. None of them had been 'squared off' to agree with 'delivering greater value to communities', which suggests a serious failure of schmoozing by Rhodri's team. They might also have spotted that Tracey Crouch's partner is a local radio presenter and had a word.
Even worse, the BBC Comms and Public Affairs team don't seem to have tipped off the DCMS in decent time. Mrs Lopez said "If we had been given further details, information and notice, I would have had a better understanding of the proposals. We were not given notice beyond the news release yesterday.
Next week Tim Davie meets Mrs Lopez.
