England’s World Cup 2022 opener against Iran on Monday 21 November was streamed 8 million times on the iPlayer and BBC Sport online, making it what the BBC elegantly calls "the largest live streamed event on the BBC over a 24 hour period."
We may be counting apples and pears, but the linear audience averaged 5.8m. So if you add the two, you get 13.8m, putting it just ahead of the linear audience for England's opening game in 2018, which was 13.7m.
