Boxed in ?

Tim Davie's been in Liz Truss's current dilemma for some time, stuck with pledges and promises incompatible with financial reality.  Nowhere is this more true than his commitment to local and regional broadcasting and production 'outside London'.  Rumours are swirling that BBC Local Radio in England will have to reverse into one evening programme that is shared across the whole network (save for live football), and that shared programming, already a feature of weekends and late night, will start at 2pm on weekdays. If correct, then we're likely to be looking at salami-slicing all round, rather than the promised 'digital reinvention'.  18 days left in October for these sort of announcements.
