The Glasgow Times has a feature on the 20th anniversary of kids show Balamory, with an interview with Julie Wilson, who played nursery teacher Miss Hoolie.
She recalls the series starting out on digital channel CBeebies in 2002, before an intervention by then Creative Director Alan Yentob got a repeat slot on BBC1. “Alan Yentob went bananas for it,” says Julie. “And after it transferred to the BBC, it just caught a light.”
She says Alan's "grandkids loved it, apparently”. 'Apparently' is doing some heavy lifting here; Alan was 56 in 2003, and then, as now, there's no public record of grandchildren.
