The new editor of BBC Question Time is to be Gerry Gay, currently editing The Nine and associated programmes on soaraway BBC Scotland (1 in six Scots watch weekly).
Gerry (1st Class BA Politics and History, University of Strathclyde) joined the BBC almost straight from college, but after 11 years in various bits of Scottish news and sport, moved to Washington. There he was with EWTN - the Eternal Word Network, launched in 1981 by Mother Angelica in Irondale, Alabama. It claims to be the world's largest religious media network. It owns the National Catholic Register and the Catholic News Agency.
Thence back to Glasgow. He's a member of Crow Wood Golf Club, and in 2019, won the club's Sprot Trophy, named after their first hole - 114yds par 3.
