Daggers drawn

Surely ITN will be able to release Deborah Turness before Christmas ?  Rachel Corp has already been promoted to CEO, and now Andrew Dagnell moves up behind Rachel, to be the new Editor of Network News.

Andrew went to Trinity School, South Croydon, from a leafy villa not far from Lloyd Park. Thence to Jesus College, Oxford University, studying English Literature. He was a joint editor of Cherwell, and took tough assignments like interviewing Tara Parker-Tompkinson.

He then trained as a local newspaper reporter in Cardiff before moving to London where he worked at Ferrari Press Agency and the News of the World, which closed in 2011.

He quickly resurfaced at the Daily Mirror, producing scoops with Lord Lucan's son, the 'world's first pregnant man',  a lady who had sex seven times a day with a pop-star, and an in-depth 2012 chat with Gemma Collins, in the days when she said she'd "turned being a beautiful big girl into a business worth seven figures." His portfolio won him Young Journalist of the Year in the Society of Editors’ Press Awards.

That all led to two years as a producer on ITV's Daybreak, as it morphed into Good Morning Britain. The shifts allowed him to write a biography of baker Paul Hollywood. He joined ITV London News, and then the network output, rising to Head of Newsgathering.
